For the first time in history, throughout the 13-year history of the internationally-respected league , Oxford and Cambridge Universities have been named the best two universities in the whole world as they were able to beat off other prestigious universities in the US, Europe and also Asia.
They were ranked in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2018 where 1,000 schools around the world were selected and ranked based on five areas which are industry income, international outlook, citations, teachings and research.
Oxford has the first place while Cambridge had the second place.
Oxbridge, an institute of Technology in California took the third place, Stanford University in the US took the fourth place while the fifth position went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
